Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 July 2026

JunkGuys ("JunkGuys", "we", "us" or "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you contact us, request a free quote, or book a junk removal, clean-out or demolition job on the Garden Route, and how we handle that information in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

1. Who we are

JunkGuys is a Garden Route based junk removal, clean-out and demolition business, owned and operated by Christo Bouwer. You can reach us on 066 133 0150, via WhatsApp on 066 133 0150, or by email at hello@junkguys.co.za. For POPIA purposes, JunkGuys is the responsible party for the personal information described below.

2. Information we collect

We only collect information we need to price and complete your job:

  • Your full name and, where applicable, business name.
  • Contact details: phone number, WhatsApp number and email address.
  • Collection address and suburb (for example Mossel Bay, Hartenbos or George).
  • A description of the items to be removed, cleared or demolished.
  • Photos or videos you choose to send us of the load or site.
  • Basic job records: quote amount, dates, invoices and proof of payment.
  • Website usage data such as pages viewed and device type, collected through standard analytics.

We do not knowingly collect information from children and we do not process special personal information (such as health or financial account details) unless it is unavoidable to complete a specific job.

3. How we use your information

  • To prepare and send you a free, no-obligation quote.
  • To schedule, route and complete your booking.
  • To send job confirmations, arrival messages and invoices.
  • To answer questions and handle complaints or insurance queries.
  • To keep proper business, tax and SARS records as required by law.
  • To improve our website, service areas and pricing.
  • To send occasional service updates. You can opt out at any time.

4. Legal basis for processing

We process your personal information under POPIA on the basis that:

  • It is necessary to conclude or perform the job you asked us to quote or complete.
  • It is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, such as tax record keeping.
  • It is in our legitimate interest to run and improve a safe, professional service.
  • You have given consent, for example when you tick the SMS or email opt-in on our quote form.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We only share it with trusted parties who help us run the business, and only to the extent needed:

  • Our crew members who carry out your job.
  • Licensed landfill sites, recyclers, and local people or organisations we donate reusable items to.
  • Our accountant, bank and payment processors.
  • Website, hosting, email, WhatsApp and SMS providers that operate our contact channels.
  • South African regulators, SARS, insurers or law enforcement where we are legally required to share information.

6. Cross-border transfers

Some of our service providers (for example email, hosting and WhatsApp) may store data outside South Africa. Where this happens we make sure the provider offers a level of protection that is comparable to POPIA.

7. How long we keep it

We keep quote and job records for as long as we need them to run the business and to meet SARS and other legal record-keeping requirements (generally at least five years). Enquiries that do not turn into jobs are deleted or anonymised within a reasonable period.

8. How we protect it

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to keep your information safe, including access controls on our devices and accounts, secure hosting for our website, and staff who are briefed on treating customer information as confidential.

9. Your POPIA rights

You have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct or delete information that is wrong or no longer needed.
  • Object to processing or withdraw a consent you have given.
  • Complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforeg@justice.gov.za.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@junkguys.co.za or call 066 133 0150. We will respond within a reasonable time and free of charge, unless the request is clearly excessive.

10. Cookies and analytics

Our website uses a small number of cookies and standard analytics to keep the site working and to understand which pages are useful. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings. Doing so may affect how some parts of the site work.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version and its date will always be shown at the top of this page. Please check back if it has been a while.
